Fairy Meadows

Fairy Meadows (Urdu: فیری میڈوز), is  known locally as Jaugth , is a courtyard near one of Nanga Parbat's base camps, located in Diamer District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. At an altitude of about 3,300 meters above sea level, it serves as a starting point for hikers on Rahiot's face in Nanga Parbat.In 1995, the Pakistani government declared Fairytale Meadows a national park.

Location

Fairy Meadows is 15 kilometers from the Raikhot Bridge on the Karakoram Highway to the Tattoo Village.Further from Tato, it takes about three to four hours to walk the three to four kilometers to Fairytale Meadows.This meadow is located in the Raikhot Valley at one end of the Raikhot Glacier, which originates in Nanga Parbat and feeds the river that eventually flows into the Indus.The local population has run a campsite in the area since 1992.

Tourism

The six month tourist season at Fairy Meadows starts in April and runs through September. Tourists are accommodated in this camp which is situated on 800 hectares of land known as "Rajkot Serai".Although the Fairy Meadows site was partially developed, around 17 million SIC was generated from tourism revenues, primarily through the provision of food, transportation and accommodation servicesThe road to Fairy Meadows was built by Brigadier M. Aslam Khan (M.C., H.J., F.K.), the first Gilgit Scout Commanders worked on by local residents today. The local people have stopped logging to protect the forest and promote tourism in the area. The main attraction of this place, unlike the meadow itself, is the view of Mount Nanga Parbat. Tourists usually head to the main Fairy Meadow Mountain Camp.
